This article is more of a stub. Please don’t judge me.
In the olden days (back before Office 365) I used to drag my emails to the To-Do Bar calendar to create quick meetings or appointments. Dropping the dragged email on a date popped open a new meeting with the subject and body pre-filled. I just had to update the time and attendees and I could quickly get back my Sudoku puzzle.
Sometime between then and now I lost that capability. I’m now using Office 365 (Outlook 2016) and this no longer works. Now I get an angry interdictory circle:
Until Microsoft restores this feature, you can create a meeting from an email by dragging the message to the Navigation Bar. It will look like one of these pictures depending on whether you’re using the Standard or Compact view:
This will cause the message to create a new appointment. The subject and body will populate based on the message – you just need to specify the date and time. It adds the extra step of having to specify the date; however, it beats having to manually copy all that stuff to a new item.
